Therapy

Our therapy team consists of Psychotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, and Therapy Assistants. They work collaboratively with education staff to implement whole-school approaches. These include Zones of Regulation, individualised visuals, Sensory Circuits, Autism-friendly practices, and evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches such as PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy). While 1-to-1 therapy is available, we believe that a team-around-the-child approach, involving parents/carers and external agencies is the most effective way to support the therapeutic needs of our pupils.

Our goal is to deeply understand each child and we conduct a variety of assessments—including psychological, speech and language, and sensory measures—to create a comprehensive clinical profile for each pupil. Instead of focusing solely on presenting behaviours, we ask, "What is the need?" This is further supported by our ‘Pyramid of Learning Need,’ which we developed using our own core values, Kim Golding's pyramid of need, and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. By regularly assessing and monitoring each child's position on the pyramid, we can implement both therapeutic and educational interventions that ensures we are meeting EHCP targets.

In addition, we have a dedicated Family Support Worker who ensures that our families receive comprehensive support, acknowledging the challenges that come with caring for children with complex needs.

We work closely with Dr. Gina Gomez de la Cuesta, a Clinical Psychologist and pioneer in the field of child psychology. Read more about Gina and her outstanding work here Gina, Clinical Psychologist
